Emily is a graduate student in International Educational Development at Teachers College, Columbia University. Her focus is on International Humanitarian Issues and her research interests include, providing quality education for refugee and forcibly displaced populations, teacher training in conflict-affected environments and sustainable approaches to integrating refugees into national education systems.
Prior to Columbia, Emily was an Impact Manager at the international education nonprofit, Pencils of Promise. In her role, she authored grant proposals, managed relationships with foundation partners and helped craft the organization's external messaging around its theory of change and programs. She was a presenter at the 2017 Youth Assembly at the United Nations and also has experience teaching English as a second language to primary-school students in Spain.
