Hayley McQuire is a South Sea Islander and Darumbal woman (Indigenous Australian), who is passionate about creating an education system inclusive of the rights of Indigenous People. Hayley is committed to authentic youth engagement, and is currently coordinating the establishment of the National Indigenous Youth Education Coalition. She has held a variety of roles working across the Indigenous Affairs landscape including leadership development, community media, health and vocational training. She has held positions on a number of youth advocacy groups including; the UN Secretary General’s Global Education First Initiative Youth Advocacy Group, UNICEF Australia Youth Ambassador, and Global Partnership for Education Youth Champion. Hayley believes firmly in working with local communities to assert their right to education. In her former role as a Capacity Support and Advocacy Advisor with the Asia South Pacific Association for Basic and Adult Education, Hayley worked with national education coalitions in Vanuatu, Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea to raise awareness and engage Governments about the Sustainable Development Goals, namely Goal 4.
